Download Old Imovie For Mac

Download iMovie 9.0.9. What's New in Version 9.0.9. Addresses issues where iMovie does not recognize video cameras connected to your Mac. Improves compatibility with projects imported from iMovie for iOS. Includes stability improvements.

From the first scene to the last. Whether you’re using a Mac or an iOS device. My first ever video editing was done on the old version of iMovie. I found that version to be intuitive and easy to work with. I was kind of excited with iMovie 10 came along, but when I started trying to work with it, it was so different from the old version that it took me a long time to feel comfortable/confident using it.

When you update to the latest version of iMovie for macOS from iMovie versions 7, 8, or 9, you’ll need to update your existing iMovie projects and events. You can either automatically update projects and events when you first open iMovie, or you can manually update projects and events later.

Automatically update when you first open iMovie

  • IMovie is an easy-to-use digital video editing software application in the classic Macintosh tradition: with convenient pull-down menus and with icons that represent familiar tools and objects.
  • IMovie Download and Install for your computer - on Windows PC 10, Windows 8 or Windows 7 and Macintosh macOS 10 X, Mac 11 and above, 32/64-bit processor, we have you covered.
  • IMovie is the native video editor from Apple for Mac devices. If you’ve ever wanted to start video editing with a simple program, this one will be a good choice. Like other Apple products, the tool works across synced Apple devices and libraries, serving as a full-fledged home movies or family videos portal.
  • IMovie for iOS and iMovie for macOS are designed to work together. You can start cutting a project on your iPhone, then use AirDrop or iCloud Drive to wirelessly transfer it to your iPad. You can also send a project from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac for finishing.

To automatically update projects and events on your Mac and on any connected storage devices, click Update. Projects and events are copied into a new library that works with the latest version of iMovie.

You can see the new library in the iMovie sidebar:

  • Your updated projects appear in an event called Updated Projects.
  • If you previously shared or finalized any of these projects, those video files appear in an event called Finalized Movies.

In the Finder, an iMovie Library file is created alongside your original iMovie Theater, iMovie Projects, and iMovie Events folders. You can still open the iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders with iMovie versions 7, 8, or 9. If you don't plan on using older versions of iMovie, you can delete the iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders.

Manually update projects and events

If you clicked Update Later, you can manually update projects and events so they’ll work with the latest version of iMovie. If you connected an external drive with older iMovie projects and events, but already updated your iMovie app, you can also manually update projects and events.

  1. Open iMovie.
  2. Choose File > Update Projects and Events.
  3. Click Update in the dialog that appears.
